John Mayall OBE Dies at 90

John Mayall OBE, the pioneering British blues musician, has died at the age of 90. Mayall's influential band, the Bluesbreakers, served as a springboard for some of the biggest stars of rock, including Eric Clapton.

Mayall was born in Macclesfield, England, on November 29, 1933. He began playing guitar at the age of 14 and soon became a fixture on the British blues scene. In 1963, he formed the Bluesbreakers, which featured a revolving lineup of talented musicians.
