Utah State University mourns the tragic death of incoming cornerback Andre Seldon Jr., who passed away Saturday in an apparent drowning accident at Porcupine Reservoir in Cache County. The university released a statement expressing its deepest condolences to Seldon's family and friends.
According to authorities, Seldon, 22, was found unresponsive on Saturday around 9:45 pm. Rescue crews performed CPR, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The preliminary investigation suggests that Seldon was involved in a cliff-diving accident.
Seldon's death is a devastating loss for the Utah State football program and the entire university community. He was a highly touted recruit from Duncanville, Texas, and was expected to play a significant role for the Aggies this fall.
