Watt Continues to Collect Offseason Awards

Garrett Voted NFL Defensive Player of the Year

TJ Watt has been collecting offseason awards left and right after another stellar season with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Watt, who led the NFL in sacks for the third time in 2022, was recently named a finalist for the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award. However, the award ultimately went to Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns.

Watt Surpasses Garrett in DPOY Race

Despite not winning the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award, Watt has still been recognized for his outstanding performance. He was named to the Pro Bowl for the fifth time in his career and was also named a first-team All-Pro. Watt's performance has been especially impressive considering that he has been playing through a torn pectoral muscle since Week 1 of the season.

Watt Wins 2021 Award

Watt won the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award in 2021 after leading the league with 22.5 sacks. He also had 5 forced fumbles and 3 interceptions. Watt's performance helped the Steelers finish with a 12-5 record and win the AFC North division.
