Manny Macado Homers To Tie The Padres Franchise Record His Second Long Ball Of The Game Against The Giants

Manny Macado's historic night: Tying the Padres franchise record with two homers against the Giants

Macado's heroics propel Padres to victory

Manny Macado etched his name into the San Diego Padres record books on Saturday night, launching two home runs to tie the franchise record for most home runs in a game. The 25-year-old outfielder's heroics propelled the Padres to a 6-3 victory over the San Francisco Giants, snapping a three-game losing streak.

Macado's first homer ties the game

Macado's first home run came in the bottom of the second inning with the Padres trailing 1-0. Facing Giants starter Alex Cobb, Macado crushed a 2-2 slider over the wall in left-center field, tying the game at 1-1. The solo shot was Macado's 10th of the season, moving him into a tie for second place in the National League.

Macado's second homer gives Padres the lead

Macado struck again in the fourth inning, this time giving the Padres a 3-1 lead. With two runners on base, Macado attacked a first-pitch fastball from Cobb, sending it soaring over the wall in right field. The three-run homer was Macado's 11th of the season, and it marked the first time he had hit two homers in a game since July 2021.

Macado's record-tying homer

Macado's record-tying homer came in the sixth inning off Giants reliever Jarlin Garcia. With the Padres leading 4-3, Macado launched a solo shot to left field, tying the Padres franchise record for most home runs in a game. The record was previously held by Greg Vaughn, who hit two homers on three separate occasions in 1998.

Macado's performance continues hot streak

Macado's two-homer performance continued his hot streak, as he has now homered in four of his last five games. The 25-year-old is batting .353 with four home runs and 11 RBIs in his last 14 games.

The Padres will look to continue their winning ways on Sunday afternoon as they face the Giants in the series finale. Chris Paddack will start for the Padres, while the Giants will counter with Logan Webb.
